About
Malinois
The Belgian
Malinois can be mistaken for a German Shepherd
for those who do not know the breed. Its coat
is short, straight, and conforms to its body.
Its coloring is fawn to mahogany with black
tips to the individual hairs. It is a very
protective breed that desires to please its
owner.
The Belgian Malinois is strong
and agile, alert and well-muscled. He needs
extensive socialization from a young age,
but if he gets it, he will be a much better
family dog than a German Shepherd.

They are extensively used for police
work as they are better with children when the officers
keep them at home than German Shepherds are.
They need attention, companionship
and a job to do or they can be destructive. They
bond strongly to one or two people and need a strong
handler who has a good understanding of the breed.
