About
Skye Terrier
The long silky
coat on the ears and about the face gives
the Skye Terrier its distinctive look. A somewhat
calm terrier that is loyally devoted to its
owner, this breed makes a great companion
for a single owner or family without lots
of activity.
The breed can be very sensitive
to strangers and their touch so needs to be
socialized very early to ensure they don’t
become biters later.

They make excellent watchdogs and
can be well suited to apartment life if barking
is kept in check. They love to walk on lead and
can be satisfied with regular outings if a yard
is not available.
Unfamiliar canines should be approached
slowly to temper any aggression. Canines that are
raised with the dog should be fine. These dogs were
once ratters so small pets should be introduced
early and watched carefully. These dogs are very
sensitive to their owners and can have separation
anxiety of not acclimated to the practice from an
early age.
Coat
The coat requires frequent brushing
especially if wet after walks or play outside. Bathe
only when necessary and have professionally groomed
2-3 times a year to have coat shaped and stripped
of dead coat. A proper groom is integral in giving
the breed its classic look.
Health Issues:
Their health is very good and few hereditary problems
exist.
Height: The Skye
Terrier is 9-10”.
Weight: Weighs about 20-25 lbs.

years.
