About
Samoyed
The Samoyed
is a strong, dynamic, active dog with a thick
double coat meant to protect it from the arctic
cold. They are gentle, easy-going, playful,
friendly, peaceable, and dignified.
Although they prefer one
person, they generally love everyone, especially
those in their family. They do well with children.

They are highly intelligent, but
often resist obedience training. Therefore, firm
and consistent training needs to be begun early.
If they get bored, they will chew
or become destructive in other ways. They may not
be trustworthy with other pets. They may be barkers.
They can live in an apartment if
exercised sufficiently. They suffer greatly in warm
climates and cannot exercise much during hot weather.
However, they will be quite active indoors.
Coat
Extensive grooming is necessary
as they are heavy shedders and need frequent brushing.

They are particularly prone to
hip dysplasia and diabetes as well as skin allergies
and eye problems.
