This dog responds well to training. It needs a dominating
owner. It is found to be happy and playful and is
obedient and always eager to please it owners. It
has got moderate to high levels of energy. It requires
moderate socialization efforts. It adjusts well
with other dogs as also with cats and other kinds
of canine and non-canine pets. It is a very suitable

As herders Armant Dogs are quick
and agile. They are swift and display well balanced
movements. These dogs are never afraid of their
predators. They boldly protect members of their
herd and masters. Armants are also found to be pretty
perceptive and are quick to respond suitably in
case of adverse situations. No wonder why they are
commonly chosen as watchdogs.
Though all Armant Dogs are in general
intelligent and loving by nature some are brighter
and can learn up things quicker. Some others may
seem more stubborn and obstinate and slow at picking
up skills. Again, while some Armants are extroverted
and can befriend strangers also some others tend
to stay aloof and withdrawn.
Better suited to outdoor
or indoor lifestyle?
The Armant Dog should preferably
be kept in such an environment/home where it gets
plenty of opportunities for exercising and interacting.
How active is the breed?
Just as other breeds of herding
dogs Armants too need considerable exercising. They
may be taken out daily for a long walk or jog. Walks,
runs and playing with balls can provide the dogs
sufficient exercise.
Grooming
In order to help out in the shedding
process brushing of the coat on a regular basis
is recommended. Bathing of the dogs is important
too and it is best if the Armants get regular baths.
Health
and Care
This is a naturally healthy breed
of dogs. So, health problems are relatively fewer
with Armants. However, while adopting puppies of
the breed one needs to make sure that the puppies
do not suffer from hip dysplasia and osteochondritis
dissecans (OCD).
