About Roxy., The Rottweiler

Roxy., a Purebred Rottweiler was rescued by Michelle from Guinea.
Here's how Michelle describes Roxy. :
She is the most wonderful dog that anyone could have she brings sunshine into my life and she makes me smile every day, everything that we do together is so much fun and i am only happy when she is close by me, i hate it when i have to leave her for a bit and can not wait to get back to her, she is my world.
Does Roxy. 's behavior show the inherent Rottweiler characteristics?
I have done a lot of reading about rottweilers and she is a very hungry dog loves to play games, she does not go far from my side and i was quite worried when i first got her but she has a wonderful way about her she is extremely gentle for her size and she is very good with children.
Special Achievement of Roxy. :
I am in a wheel chair and can not see too well and she seems to know this as she will bring her ball to me and put it straight on my lap, she will not let go of it until i have got it in my hand, and she will not let anyone else take it from her, so i am pretty sure that she knows a lot more than what we are led to believe.
Michelle's advice on what type of family should adopt a Rottweiler:
I would say that any sort of family can own rottweilers but i also believe that if there is very small children then at no time should they be left with any kind of dog on there own being that children can not read the signs that a dog gives out, and there is no such thing as a bad dog, just a bad owner!!!

About Aika, The Rottweiler

Aika, a Purebred Rottweiler was adopted by O'brien from United States.
Here's how O'brien describes Aika :
We adopted our rottweiler "aika" when she was a puppy. the breeder was going to hand her over to the shelter because of her overbite and would not be able to sell or show her. since then, she has been such a blessing from god to our family as she has brought us closer. she is both a bold guardian and an intelligent, steady, devoted friend. she is gentle, loving, energetic, funny, discerning and calm. she is willing to please (although at times she is stubborn but we are committed to training her properly). she is wonderful with our children and she is the apple of their eyes. we are contemplating training her for a therapy dog...time will tell. we are grateful for the privilege of owning her. p.s. we are hoping you pick us as one of your winners as we would benefit tremendously from your program. in this economy, we all could use a little help....thanks!
Does Aika 's behavior show the inherent Rottweiler characteristics?
Aika is intelligent, calm by nature, curious, sometimes a bit aloof but deeply devoted and very discerning. she is willing to please and would love to "work". it is important that people are educated in the raising, training and caring for this wonderful breed.
Special Achievement of Aika :
See above answers (description of dog in box #1) we prayed that this dog would be a blessing to our family and others. there is a japanese saying "it takes a dog to make us humans realize our human-ness". for the right family, we would definitely recommend owning a rottweiler...our dog has "sold" us on this breed. for the right person or family, consideration of adopting a "rescue" rottweiler is a helpful option...but it is important to keep these dogs from having to be relinquished to the shelters in the first place.
O'brien's advice on what type of family should adopt a Rottweiler:
Committed, disciplined family to raise a dog such as our dog (rottie). always remembering that a dog is an animal and needs to know it's place through loving, consistency, firm, patient ways. enjoy your pets....love god and eachother. thanks!

About Bailey Nicole, The Rottweiler

Bailey Nicole, a Purebred Rottweiler was adopted by Mary Sanders from United States.
Here's how Mary Sanders describes Bailey Nicole :
Cautious around strangers, sneaky when she wants something she wants something that she is not suppose to have, and she is a comedian
Does Bailey nicole 's behavior show the inherent Rottweiler characteristics?
Yes as any rottie parent would tell you they are extremly smart and love to clown around. when i talk to bailey she looks directly at me as if to say i want to please you and then the next second she has one of my socks in here mouth walks in front of me with her head held high looks at me and runs behind the sofa, she thinks that's her hiding place
Special Achievement of Bailey Nicole :
I have a 2 yr old granddaughter name jersey and when she comes to visit bailey will sit in front of her so jersey can hug her and bailey cab give her sweet puppy kisses, and then the stop it bailey and the no's begin because bailey doesn't quite undestand why she can't play with jersey's toys
Mary Sanders's advice on what type of family should adopt a Rottweiler:
Rotties are great for families who needs unconditioal love, a companion who will always want to be with them, and a family who needs laughter, loyalty, and courage in their lives. this is what a rottie has to offer to their adopted family

About Yogi Bear, The Rottweiler

Yogi Bear, a Purebred Rottweiler was adopted by Jeannie Hodgkiss from United States.
Here's how Jeannie Hodgkiss describes Yogi Bear :
Yogi is the most happy and loving dog i have ever had. he lives to be petted and to have his ears rubbed.
Does Yogi bear 's behavior show the inherent Rottweiler characteristics?
Yes, he is all the traits of the rottweiler breed. however, many times we see them in the media only when they do something that is negative or harmful to others. my goal is to let the general public know what wonderful, friendly, loving dogs they can be.
Special Achievement of Yogi Bear :
Yogi and i are a pet therapy team. we have been registered with the tdi, inc. therapy organization. last summer we were involved with the childrens reading program at our local library. that is a program where children sign up for a 15 minute time period to read to yogi. he does not correct or critize their reading. the children love having him be so accepting and he enjoys all the attention he gets from them. we also do extensive nursing home work. the residents love to pet and hug " their bear dog." we are just getting involved with hospice patients and we will see how that goes. to see the interaction he has with everyone warms my heart.
Jeannie Hodgkiss's advice on what type of family should adopt a Rottweiler:
A family that has children or not, is not a factor through my experience. i would recommend getting a puppy so he does assume that children will be part of his life. the key thing i believe is getting the puppy socialized and used to being around people. dogs are not perfect all the time. they require dicipline and consistincy. if you do not believe in those 2 things. don't get a rottweiler, they will run your house. i think an experienced dog owner would enjoy this breed a lot more than a first timer.

About Babe, The Rottweiler

Babe, a Mixed Breed Rottweiler was rescued by Dorine from United States.
Here's how Dorine describes Babe :
Huge, loving, sweet, precious, hungry, loves to interact with other dogs and people, playful, kind, thoughtful, gentle and loves to give hugs and kisses.
Does Babe 's behavior show the inherent Rottweiler characteristics?
We know that babe was abused by his former owners because the shelter tried to get her back to a decent weight. babe was kicked and hit when she was a puppy and teen. she still carries some scars and backs off quickly if she is sitting on the floor at your feet and you move your feet too quickly...ie. to fold you legs. we suppose that she was to be trained to be an attack dog but her gentle nature was in conflict with what the original owner wanted. so we are fortunate and blessed to have found such a loving gal pet.
Special Achievement of Babe :
My husband tripped and broke his ankle which resulted in an operation and cast. when my husband returned from the hospital babe came up to him, sniffed his cast, and laid down at his feet licking his cast. then babe started to cry. it was so touching to see our babe (we've had her now for 10 months) be so caring about my husband and his foot. especially knowing that she is so afraid of feet and foot movements. what a love babe is to us, and what a "trooper" she is in conquering her fears.
Dorine's advice on what type of family should adopt a Rottweiler:
Big, small, solo family, any kind of family. she loves children especially. our children are grown so she has adopted all the children in our neighborhood to be her special "pals"! she is wonderful with humans and other animals.

About Annabelle, The Rottweiler

Annabelle, a Mixed Breed Rottweiler was rescued by Evelyn Burnham from United States.
Here's how Evelyn Burnham describes Annabelle :
Annabelle is a very loving and loyal companion. she has some goofy tendencies and gets to running so fast that she leaps like a deer.
Does Annabelle 's behavior show the inherent Rottweiler characteristics?
As far as the rottie part, she can be stubborn especially during obedience school. she is very willing to work and to please. she is very "possessive" of her family. she is an excellent watchdog and will let us know when she hears a strange sound. since we are not sure what she is mixed with, we don't know about her other breed characteristics.
Special Achievement of Annabelle :
We have always had rescued mixed breed dogs. annabelle is our 4th dog. she is highly intelligent and very willing to please. being a mixed rescued dog, she has been spayed which i highly recommend for these type of dogs. she has some goofy tendencies but all in all is a very loving companion. she was rescued from a flea market.
Evelyn Burnham's advice on what type of family should adopt a Rottweiler:
Anyone can own a mixed breed. the animal shelters are full of them and they make very loyal, loving companions. unless someone definitely wants a pure bred dog, then mixed are the way to go.
