My buddy and mr. mello who when he tilts his head and looks at you with those big brown eyes melts even the most hard hearted person. to love shadow is to be loved many time over in return by shadow.
Does Shadow 's behavior show the inherent Labrador Retriever characteristics?
He is a typical labrador retriever as is full of it. he loves to steal from his sister sunshine since he has recovered from his surgery.
Special Achievement of Shadow :
He is special. when a few months old we found that he had a birth defect (a portosystemic shunt-affecting his liver) the breeder said just put him down and i will give you a new puppy. no way!! he has had surgery and is now my $5,000 dog and little buddy.
Jerry (jerold) Vanderpool's advice on what type of family should adopt a Labrador Retriever:
Folks who love dogs and want doggie love in return and have room out doors for the labradors to run and play. if you have water or lakes around like we do, that is even better.

Does Molly 's behavior show the inherent Labrador Retriever characteristics?
Molly is your true water dog and just loves to swim in every dam and puddle no matter what the weather is like. she is exactly what a labrador is supposed to be. she loves water, loves people and other dogs. she is happy to sleep all day but is ready for action when she sees me in my riding clothes or getting ready to go out for a walk. there is no chance of going riding or walking with out her. she is very intelligent and was very easy to obedience train. she is the only dog i've ever owned that wants to be bathed and is ready to hop up into her hydro bath the minute i give the command. she is also very food motivated like all true labradors!!!
Special Achievement of Molly :
Molly has learn't a few little tricks at doggy school. she can sit up and beg, shake hands, speak on command and will sit and wait for the command to eat her food. she has just started to learn how to bow. this dog will do anything for food treats!!!

I think that labradors are well suited for a family with children. they are happy dogs that love to play even when they get older. they are also dogs that like a lot of attention and mental stimulation. they can get bored and destructive if left alone for long periods of time with out things to keep them occupied. they are great for doing obedience training.

Clever, pleasing, andobedient, passionate,
Does Zenboo 's behavior show the inherent Labrador Retriever characteristics?
For sure!!!! he is learning extremely fast. i haven't started to teach him extreme stuff yet because he is still very small. but i've told him the basic dicipline using a very loving manner without screaming or hitting. he's already responding to it. and he already brings me the ball. and i can see that he has a natuaral instict to please.
Special Achievement of Zenboo :
Well zenboo is my little gift from above. my neighboors are labrador breeders. one day they called me to ask me if i am willing to take a sick puppy from the batch. he had some kind of heart problem which he would have been able to over grown if he survived it. it was a 50/50 chance. but she couldn't keep him and wanted to "put him to sleep". i decided to give him a chance. however, after 2 weeks he was very sick and the vet told me that it was better for him if we put him to sleep. i was very sad, but now i know that he is in a much better place. he's name was billy-boy! well, only a few days later i bough billy's brother from the same breeder which turned out to be the strongest and heathiest of the group. he was very expensive due to his excellent pedigree background, so now i'm paying him off over 4 months. it was all worth it!!i am so pleased with him and he's got the most unique personality!!
Elizabeth's advice on what type of family should adopt a Labrador Retriever:
Very loving people who has the time to spend very much attention to their dog. labradors are extremely good with children, so that would definitely be a bonus!!

About Lucy, The Labrador Retriever

Lucy, a Purebred Labrador Retriever was adopted by June Fowler from United States.
Here's how June Fowler describes Lucy :
She is very, very energetic and loving, a yellow lab. she is also a thief if given the opportunity. if i leave my purse on the floor, she will take everything out when i am not looking and choose items at random to hide under the sofa or bed. yes, she is a house dog. she is afraid of the dark and will not go out to potty unless we walk out with her. we live in the country and she was living in the city when born. she had never heard a cyote or hoot owl and there were street lights. we leave our spot light on at night now. she is getting better and we plan to install a dog door for her to go out doors to a fenced area when she gets over her fear.
Does Lucy 's behavior show the inherent Labrador Retriever characteristics?
Terrific nose. has found items i thought were lost forever. can't hide her favorite items from her. not really sure what you are looking for here.

June Fowler's advice on what type of family should adopt a Labrador Retriever:
A patient family who is looking for a loyal companion, not a guard dog.they love people and might even wag their tail while someone breaks into your house if they know labs. i know because this happened to us with our last lab. must be ready for a challenge and willing to go through a little pain for the reward that is sure to come.
