Jlo, The Chihuahua |
|
Jlo, a
Purebred Chihuahua was
adopted by
Janet from
United States. |
Here's how
Janet describes
Jlo :
She is loving and always so eager to please. |
Does
Jlo 's behavior show the inherent Chihuahua
characteristics?
Yes, at times her behavior is typical of chihuahuas. she will bark as she sees people and will run after them. she is a loving pet, i have problems with attitude like some do of chihuahuas. she is a great pet for our family, the children just love her as she loves them as well. |
Special Achievement of Jlo :
Oh, my beautiful jlo (the dog) is so sweet. she was so easy to potty train. she love to go everywhere i go, when she sees me get my keys she goes straight to the door and will jump right in to the car. she loves going everywhere. she also loves her daily walks, she just struts like she is a real somebody, it is so cute. |
Janet's advice on what type of family should adopt
a Chihuahua:
An older couple, a single person, and/or a family with children over the age of 8. |
About
Twinkie, The Chihuahua |
|
Twinkie, a
Purebred Chihuahua was
adopted by
Mariel Taboada from
Mexico. |
Here's how
Mariel Taboada describes
Twinkie :
Twinkie, my chihuahua is not a remarkable smart dog, but is as loyal and lovely as i like. if i take her out with me, she is very happy, but if i leave her at home, there is no problem, she is quiet and waits as much as needed. she is a great companion; wherever i go inside the house, she lies down close to me, even if it is cold and late, she waits until i finish to take her to bed at my own room. |
Does
Twinkie 's behavior show the inherent Chihuahua
characteristics?
I think so, as far as i have investigated, she is a lovely, happy, active and at the same time quiet doggie. i socialized here since puppy and is very friendly. |
Special Achievement of Twinkie :
Please, please, try to learn about the breed of your dog, or at least about dogs in general if it is mixed, for you will discover a wonderful, marvelous unknown world. that will allow you to educate and get along much, much better with your pet. |
Mariel Taboada's advice on what type of family should adopt
a Chihuahua:
Adults and teenagers, elder people, quiet ones, even handicaped people, but not families with children under 12. the chihuahua has to be understood to be a good company, and small children are busy learning about themselves to get enough "chihuahua's information". |

Leila (female), The Chihuahua |
|
Leila (female), a
Purebred Chihuahua was
taken in by
Mikki Bolt from
United States. |
Here's how
Mikki Bolt describes
Leila (female) :
Leila has lots of energy and wants to please. she loves me and wants to please me so much. she is so easy to train as you said. until she gets to know a stranger she is very protective of me. |
Does
Leila (female) 's behavior show the inherent Chihuahua
characteristics?
A lady from church gave her to me and they raised chihuahuas. she is in a totally different atmosphere now so she has a totally different personality. |
Special Achievement of Leila (female) :
I am a senior by myself. i previously owned a poodle that had to be put down. leila is so full of life and pretty much does what i want her to do. |
Mikki Bolt's advice on what type of family should adopt
a Chihuahua:
Chihuahuas i think would do well in an active family, but she is so much company for me. |
About
Joey, The Chihuahua |
|
Joey, a
Purebred Chihuahua was
adopted by
Kathy from
United States. |
Here's how
Kathy describes
Joey :
Very well tempered....not a yappy chi. very friendly with adults and children and loves other dogs. but very spoiled. |
Does
Joey 's behavior show the inherent Chihuahua
characteristics?
He is somewhat like other chihuahuas....he was hard to train...but consistency was the key. i had a difficult time house training the dog. he continually pee'd or poop on my kitchen carpet i tried everything but nothing worked. so then i rewarded him everytime he went on the paper and with in a few weeks he was well trained. |
Special Achievement of Joey :
Never hit the dog....always train with rewards or spray bottle filled with water. when he consistently does something wrong....i pull out the spray bottle. as soon as he sees it he will stop the bad behavior. also he loves to chew on things, dry-wall, paper, plastic, anything he can get a hold of. i spray areas that i don't want him around with water and vinegar. then i have trained him to drop whats in his mouth and reward him with a treat. it takes time but well worth it, he is now 1 year and 4 months and a joy to be around. even the girls at the vets office can't wait to hold and see him when i go in. |
Kathy's advice on what type of family should adopt
a Chihuahua:
This is a great dog for anyone if you take the time to train the dog correctly. socialize your chihuahua at an early age with adults, children and other dogs. |
About
Bella, The Chihuahua |
|
Bella, a
Purebred Chihuahua was
taken in by
Gale Jamison from
United States. |
Here's how
Gale Jamison describes
Bella :
Lovable, playful, smart, terrific disposition. loves to play with other chihuahua mixes but is a little too active for my other dog which is a part pit and jackrussell terrier mix so they have their occasional "run-ins"-twice to be exact. i keep a watchful eye out for the little one. |
Does
Bella 's behavior show the inherent Chihuahua
characteristics?
I really don't know. this is my first time raising a chihuahua. at first, i was skeptical about raising something so small but bella and i have become so attached to one another that sometimes i wonder why i hadn't tried to get a chihuahua right off the bat!i want to learn more on how to raise a chihuahua and i should've bought that book you were selling a while back. |
Special Achievement of Bella :
They are so sweet and lovable! i have to yet to see bella act mean towards anyone. right now she is sitting on my lap while i'm working on my computer. we've already potty-trained her to go outside and it took us less than a week. she is still in the learning process of going through our "doggie-door". she is having a slight harder time going out through the "doggie-door" but does great coming back into the house. we feel that she will learn that in a very short-time |
Gale Jamison's advice on what type of family should adopt
a Chihuahua:
Compassionate, caring, pet-loving owners. previous owner was a girl that worked for my husband and because her new boyfriend did not want any small dog running around in the home she asked us if we wanted bella. her boyfriend thought it was so "un-maucho" for a big guy to have a little dog like a chihuahua! my husband is 6'3 and loves bella! i am so glad we got her! my husband and i treat her like she's our "newborn" but we also give equal amount of attention to our other dog so she doesn't feel left out of anything! |
About
Bootsy, The Chihuahua |
|
Bootsy, a
Purebred Chihuahua was
adopted by
Cheriene from
United States. |
Here's how
Cheriene describes
Bootsy :
Bootsy is nothing short of amazing! she is seven plus pounds of positive energy that brightens everyone's day. ever since i brought her home she has made it her number one goal to be a proud people pleaser. she is unique in personality and her markings are so unique she turns heads everywhere we go! she is the best dog in the world! |
Does
Bootsy 's behavior show the inherent Chihuahua
characteristics?
Bootsy is very unique in her demeanor. chihuahua's have a reputation for being "ankle biters" or "shakers" or "yippers" and she doesn't do any of those things. it is almost as though she shunned all the "chihuahua bad habits" and took on only the good ones. i can't count the number of people that stop me at the park, or in stores and tell me they "hate chihuahuas but love bootsy because of her behavoir." i am very proud of her for that, as it is a big undertaking changing someone's opinion on an entire breed of dog. she is very loyal as chihuahuas are. she is a great alarm system for intruders of the property, though not a good guard dog as she is so small. she loves to run the house and harass the cats as all chihuahuas do. she loves her master and reads me better than anyone ever has. all those good traits she follows are very much inherent in chihuahuas. like all chihuahuas bootsy is the perfect companion! |
Special Achievement of Bootsy :
Bootsy has taught me more in a year than i have ever known about dogs in my life. with her i decided to teach myself how to clicker train her. and lucky for me she loves learning and is making me look like a real professional. she picks up all the tricks i teach her and even retains them. because she is so awesome i am stepping up my game to get her cgc qualified and delta society certified and enroll her to volunteer for animal assisted therapy. i know in my heart she can brighten people's lives and i am not going to stop her from doing that. |
Cheriene's advice on what type of family should adopt
a Chihuahua:
I recommend chihuahuas to middle aged people who are single and maybe living in an apartment. so long as they take walks they are fine in small places. there are some active elderly people who are in need of a friend that i recommend chihuahuas too, but only if they either are able to walk them or have a nice big yard for them to run off the energy. chihuahuas do well with couples so long as there are no small children in the house. small children tend to not know their own strength and a lot of the times unintentionally grab, step on, scare or hurt the little breed. in general, chihuahuas are good for anyone (except small children) looking for a long time companion! |

About
Little Miss Bleuberree Angel M, The Chihuahua |
|
Little Miss Bleuberree Angel M, a
Purebred Chihuahua was
taken in by
Ruth from
United States. |
Here's how
Ruth describes
Little Miss Bleuberree Angel M :
Bleuberree angel is bleu in color with cream on her toes. she is very loving but has the tendency to get very irritated with her grandma and i {her momma} when we want to trim her nails or give her a bath. by far potty training was the hardest part of all and at times there are accidents still. the angry biting is an issue still for when bleuberree doesn't like what we are going to do the rage sets in. |
Does
Little miss bleuberree angel m 's behavior show the inherent Chihuahua
characteristics?
Some of this behavior i feel relates to the inherent breed of the chihuahua but yet some of it doesn't. like for instance the aggression. bleuberree angel wasn't taken care of like she was supposed to have been for the people left for 2 weeks when she was a baby and upon returning she had no food to eat nor did the mother or her other litter mates. they all had to fend for themselves. the person caring for them while these folks were gone wasn't kind with any of the animals at all either. at 7 weeks we got bleuberree angel and she was filled from head to toe with ringworms. bleuberree's grandma and i {her momma} right away called the vet and we got her in on saturday may 31, 2008, and found that had we waited there wouldn't have been anything the vet could have done for our precious little bleuberree angel. she was a very sick little lady from the time we got her on may 31, 2008 and just kept up the vigil of giving bleuberree angel all the tlc we could all the time and finally the results from the vet and her vet tech's came through that bleuberree angel was finally looking healthy for the first time in her little life. the part of getting bleuberree to eat like she is supposed to know is still being worked on now that we have her health issues in order. it will take time and patience on all of our parts. the best to come out of all of this is that bleuberree angel loves everyone she meets. she is not afraid of anyone. |
Special Achievement of Little Miss Bleuberree Angel M :
Bleuberree angel is one super special little lady who loves to smile big, dance, walk on her hind legs, waves an 'i'll see you later' wave, or curls her paws - depending on which paw bleuberree feels like using on that day - and pulls her paw towards herself wanting that person to 'come here please,' i would like to give you a kiss. bleuberree angel's two favorites are {1}her squeaky pineapple that she loves to bite on and bulldoze when pineapple squeaks, and {2}children of all ages. bleuberree angel thinks that she is as big as her four big brothers {1-whippet,1-part bleu heeler/australian shepherd,1-part collie/pyerinese and 1-full great white pyrinese} on the ranch. her brothers don't mind that she is the only female and tiny at that. she is spayed too. bleuberree voices her opinions when she feels they are needed too. |
Ruth's advice on what type of family should adopt
a Chihuahua:
Avid pet lovers that love small breeds and families that have children that are gentle and play gentle with chihuahua puppies. parents need to supervise their children around chihuahuas due to their tendency to snip at children when they pull the fur etc. should the family want a puppy that will own all of them as a family i suggest finding another breed since chihuahuas attach themselves to one person. like bleuberree angel is solely attached to me but will have something to do with her grandparents and other people as long as i am around her and or holding her. otherwise she gets very nervous and irritated and snaps at people. chihuahuas are fun to have around and have lots of tendencies to make their owners laugh too which is one of the best parts of owning a chihuahua. |

About
Callie Rose, The Chihuahua |
|
Callie Rose, a
Purebred Chihuahua was
adopted by
Bob A. Nestor from
United States. |
Here's how
Bob A. Nestor describes
Callie Rose :
Loving to us, hostile toward other dogs, a remarkable listener, inelligent |
Does
Callie rose 's behavior show the inherent Chihuahua
characteristics?
I presume that barking much is a characteristic of her breed as is the lack of understanding that she is really a lot smaller than the big dogs and that she should try to be more cordial to them. |
Special Achievement of Callie Rose :
Callie is a challenge, but our lives would feel very empty if the little rascal were not with us. |
Bob A. Nestor's advice on what type of family should adopt
a Chihuahua:
People who are looking for a good in-house dog who are willing to put up with her barking at passers-by as she looks out of the window would do well with a dog like callie rose. |
