Special Achievement of Rose :
She is very special , she is an angel. she was breed to be an agility dog , but when she was 6 month old , they discovered severe hip displasia ,she was useless (????) , i got her and took her to the vet. the vet told me there was few possibilities that she would be a "normal dog again" , some other vets told me that she was going to be almost disable , barely walking and this and that. i saw her eyes of hope and i sold some personal stuff to get the money and she went for surgery . she got both head of the femur removed , both hips , a big surgery , she never complained , she fought and we did rehabilitation , every day for 6 months , she was always happy , even when she was in pain after surgery , always licking my hand saying thank you !! now she plays fresbee and she is catching the disc on the air !! she is a theraphy dog ,certified at delta soc. and she is an example for all the children on rehabilitation . we visit hospices , schools, children rehabilitation centers , where she inspires the kids to keep going , she let them know that if you put your heart on it, you can doi it !!! she did it , against all the ods. she is a very good example . and she loves to share " her experience " . she does all kind of tricks and play basketball for the childrens , and frisbee too.she is always ready to go and work .. she is amazing. she is always teaching me something.
Maria Gloria Z. Estrada's advice on what type of family should adopt a Border Collie:
Border collies are for active people , they need a lot of exercise and they need a job , they are very energetic and smart. they are happy with young active couples , with families that live in ranches , they are the sheepdogs by excellence !! they need time and a lot of work.

About Master Shake, The Border Collie

Master Shake, a Purebred Border Collie was adopted by Cheryl from United States.
Here's how Cheryl describes Master Shake :
Beautiful, the smartest dog i have ever seen, so senstive to moods, ever playful, will just keep going.
Does Master shake 's behavior show the inherent Border Collie characteristics?
Yes, he will herd, stalk and stare down other animals, and will circle to protect me.
Special Achievement of Master Shake :
He will sit patiently by the back door to go out, and if no one comes to let him out he will ring the bell that is hanging there for that purpose. he immediately kennels up whenever anyone puts on a coat or rattles keys, even though his crate is never closed. tell him to find his ball, and he will look all over for it, and if under the couch or unreachable, he will lay down and just stare at it until someone gets it for him.
Cheryl's advice on what type of family should adopt a Border Collie:
One with alot of energy, he wants to play all the time, but will calm down on command.

About Sadie, The Border Collie

Sadie, a Purebred Border Collie was rescued by Buvetta from United States.
Here's how Buvetta describes Sadie :
Loving, beautiful, active, great catcher, willing to learn new things. has the ability to almost read your mind. she has adapted to our life style very quickly. most everyone falls in love with her. i keep my eye on her outside - but she pretty much stays right with us and on her property.
Does Sadie 's behavior show the inherent Border Collie characteristics?
She is a typical herding dog. she hunkers down and stares at us when we throw the ball. she is protective of her own people. will open her heart with new people when she is comfortable with them.
Special Achievement of Sadie :
She would make an excellent agility competitor - if we at our age could keep up with her. she shares herself between my husband and myself. if my grandchildren are over she shares with those she knows want attention.
Buvetta's advice on what type of family should adopt a Border Collie:
These border collies have very tender feelings - yelling at them does the exact opposite of what you want. they respond to love and affection, which most dogs do. they have to have their active times each day. they love to get out and play and run - no couch potatoe. they are much like children - they respond in a similar fashion that you do.

About Shep, The Border Collie

Shep, a Purebred Border Collie was adopted by Kirby from Australia.
Here's how Kirby describes Shep :
Shep is a blue merle border collie that has the black border collie markings, but instead of white, is the blue merle colouring. this is mainly on his legs, chest and around his neck. he is quite fat (he's still a puppy) but whenever we go for a walk, he will come with us. whenever we just sit outside, he curls up at our feet. (often he just lies there licking our toes) he is so sweet and cuddly, but we can already tell that he is one smart dog.
Does Shep 's behavior show the inherent Border Collie characteristics?
I read that border collies are one of the top ten hardest breeds to housetrain. however, at 7 weeks old (almost 8) shep has never pooed inside and he only pee'd the first 2 nights. ever since then he simply holds it and goes in the morning when i let him out. he has very strong herding instincts though, and is always trying to round us up when we go for walks, nipping at our toes and cutting in front of our feet. he loves nothing more though than playing soccer though (or simply pushing the ball round with his nose) playing fetch and being patted. he is a bit reserved around strangers though, although we have a fun time when it is just him and his family.
Special Achievement of Shep :
Shep isn't really that curious unless we are there with him and mostly lies in the entertainment area under the shoe rack. however, as soon as he see's a frog or a lizard, watch out!
Kirby's advice on what type of family should adopt a Border Collie:
I would only recommend this breed if you have a large property or a farm, for border collies need a job and will probably go crazy if you live in an apartment or don't have much time to spend with them.

About Leilu, The Border Collie

Leilu, a Purebred Border Collie was adopted by Corrie Russinko from United States.
Here's how Corrie Russinko describes Leilu :
Leilu is a deep red and white with one blue and one brown eye, and a spotch of white on her right perk ear. but as physically beautiful as she is, her personality is what really catches everyone's attention: curious and gregarious nature, able to show her loving dispostion so candidly in both facial and body expressions (she hugs people).
Does Leilu 's behavior show the inherent Border Collie characteristics?
The intelligence of this breed is amazing. having leilu around is like having a small child in the home - constantly curious, willing to learn and involved with everyone and everything that is going on in the home. she listens while we speak to her and tilts her head from side to side. i swear she completely understands everything we say!
Special Achievement of Leilu :
We tried agility, obedience and sports in which she did well but we found leilu's true calling in therapy work. she is able to sense when people are going through tough times and shows a special gentleness to them. we particiapte in a reading program at our local library and she has bonded with a little boy who was left orphaned and ill like she has never done with any of the children before.
Corrie Russinko's advice on what type of family should adopt a Border Collie:
Border collies require constant physical and mental interaction and stimulation so they are not for everyone. they will make wonderful family dogs but only if everyone is committed to working as a team to provide care. otherwise, it is best to leave them to the farms. however, having a border collie as part of your family (pack) is one of the most rewarding experiences you can provide for yourself and children and i would recommend that anyone who can meet the critia adopt one.

About Bella, The Border Collie

Bella, a Mixed Breed Border Collie was adopted by Zandra from South Africa.
Here's how Zandra describes Bella :
Bella is very outgoing - and has a mind of her own. she loves company and has fitted into our household as if she has been there all her life. bella is a real busy-body and only sits still when she is sleeping.
Does Bella 's behavior show the inherent Border Collie characteristics?
Bella has the face of the cocker spaniel and the body of the border collie - she is full of energy just like the border collie - she chases a pair of 'wagtails' that are breeding on our verandah when they walk on the lawn looking for food - which is the cocker spaniel coming out in her - the wagtails in turn tease her by doing short flights around the lawn making bella run for a good 15 minutes at a time until she loses interest in them and/or finds something else more interesting to play with.
Special Achievement of Bella :
I've only had bella for a month - but she stole my heart within minutes of receiving her. she has a gorgeous face - and the most adorable eyes - you can't help but love her - she captures the hearts of everyone who meets her. she also gets along well with my other dogs; which are two maltese cross; and a boer-boel x australian cattle dog.
Zandra's advice on what type of family should adopt a Border Collie:
I would recommend a puppy like bella to a family with children. bella is very friendly and has a very out-going personality - you can't help but love her

About Lucky, The Border Collie

Lucky, a Mixed Breed Border Collie was rescued by Donna Cea from United States.
Here's how Donna Cea describes Lucky :
My dog, lucky, is the most lovable, loyal dog i've ever come across. she accepts any and all animals i have brought into our home, including puppies, kittens, grown cats, and even my parrot. we rescued her from the pound and she lets us know how much she appreciates that every day of her life.
Does Lucky 's behavior show the inherent Border Collie characteristics?
I am sure the border collie part in her makes her so lovable and tolerable to any other animals in our home. the shepherd in her makes her a wonderful protector if the need arises. the sweetness in her, is just her personality!!
Special Achievement of Lucky :
The only thing else i can share about lucky is to tell you all, it is worth it to save a dogs life. they somehow know it and will be your faithful friend forever!
Donna Cea's advice on what type of family should adopt a Border Collie:
Any family would do good with this mixture of breeds. she accepts any kids, any other animals, and friendly with company.

About Jasmine, The Border Collie

Jasmine, a Mixed Breed Border Collie was rescued by Annie Marks from United Kingdom.
Here's how Annie Marks describes Jasmine :
Jasmine is loving, bouncy, impossible to wear out, loyal in the extreme and always hungry for love. she was never invited to sleep on my bed, but helped herself to her place and now expects me to move over to the edge to give her room! when she's out on her walks she's quite happy to bound away from me, but i notice she's always got me in her sights.
Does Jasmine 's behavior show the inherent Border Collie characteristics?
Jasmine is as near full border collie as possible, but with whippet speed. she can go so fast when she's chasing seagulls that they find they have to move rather quickly! she is extremely intelligent, devoted to balls and sticks, loves the water ... and has to be kept well away from sheep, because a certain look comes into her eye when she sees them! she is also very protective of her family and her property and will leap about the car in a frenzy of barking if anyone dares to come too close.
Special Achievement of Jasmine :
Border collies must be stimulated, they are much brighter than most breeds of dog and they want to be 'up-and-at-it'most of the day. she is time-consuming and wouldn't suit someone who was out at work most of the time, but then that's a typical border collie.
Annie Marks's advice on what type of family should adopt a Border Collie:
Families - she's excellent with my small grandchildren, in fact she loves them to bits. retired people - she keeps us well and truly fit because she wants to be out on a walk most of the day!

About Shadow, The Border Collie

Shadow, a Mixed Breed Border Collie was rescued by Bea from Canada.
Here's how Bea describes Shadow :
Little bundle of energy that needs a job
Does Shadow 's behavior show the inherent Border Collie characteristics?
Definitively! she "eyes" her buddy, like collies do with sheep, but then goes after the legs, like the blue heelers do. she also went after our horse's nose and legs, just to get some of it's grain ... she was also known to heard the previous owner's cat.
Special Achievement of Shadow :
She was not socialized properly as a puppy (the family that had her just locked her in the backyard), and therefore she is scared of a lot of "normal" things. so we are working hard on taking her to different places, getting her used to everything, including other dogs and cars. on a funny note: her tongue is too long and is sticking out when she tries to concentrate or when she is asleep.
Bea's advice on what type of family should adopt a Border Collie:
A very active family, that goes for long hikes or bike rides with their dogs, also perferrably owns some property.

About Daisy, The Border Collie

Daisy, a Mixed Breed Border Collie was adopted by Michele.meehan from Canada.
Here's how Michele.meehan describes Daisy :
Daisy is a very smart loving dog. we have socialized her a lot, with other dogs and people.
Does Daisy 's behavior show the inherent Border Collie characteristics?
Daisy sure is a herding dog. she loves to be everywhere you are. she is starting to be very protective of us, and is showing that her friendliness towards strangers, will come with time. we adopted her from our local animal services when she was 7 months old. she loves the outdoors, so we walk her and take her on runs often.daisy needs a job to do at all times. she is now 17 months old and showing more of her breed characteristics, which are herding us and nipping.
Special Achievement of Daisy :
Before you adopt any dog, you should make sure that your lifestyle suits the breed of the dog. socialization is key to getting your dog to respond and in turn listen to you.we did not take daisy to obedience classes, but you need to be consistent in the training and commands to have a well rounded loved pet and loving companion.
Michele.meehan's advice on what type of family should adopt a Border Collie:
The type of family would be a active family. everyone in the household should take part in the training. you have to remember that this breed of dog, likes to have a job to do at all times, boredom can turn into destructive behavior.with young children around you have to remember that this breed is a herding breed. i would not recommend leaving any dog unsupervised, with children or strangers around. sincerely, michele meehan
