About Lucky, The American Eskimo

Lucky, a Purebred American Eskimo was rescued by Anne from Canada.
Here's how Anne describes Lucky :
Very good with people but quite the opposite with other dogs
Does Lucky 's behavior show the inherent American Eskimo characteristics?
Don't know
Special Achievement of Lucky :
She is very quick to learn most things but i am still having alot of problems with other dogs.
Anne's advice on what type of family should adopt a American Eskimo:
Very good with people. she loves children. i would recommend american eskimos as long as they have the proper training.

About Stiner, The American Eskimo

Stiner, a Purebred American Eskimo was adopted by Baylee from United States.
Here's how Baylee describes Stiner :
Funny, sadly starting to go blind, doesn't like most people he is ok with some like my friends megan sarah ali and my grandma and brothers that dont live here anymore but he isn't ok with becky and shelbie and cathrine. it depends on who it is he likes to play with toys once or twice but doesn't like to play with them again. he is a all out door dog and loves to run jump when he isn't allowed to and bark at cars and people when he is not allowed to. he likes to think everything he cant have is a toy and his toys he doesn't like.
Does Stiner 's behavior show the inherent American Eskimo characteristics?
He is wary of strangers and likes his own back yard but short walks around just to let him get some air
Special Achievement of Stiner :
When stiner, my american eskimo, was a puppy about a month old before we got him a older male dog got out of his cage and attacked all the male puppies and my dog's father they said there was blood all over the place and my puppy was the only one left alive they took him straight to the pet hospital and he has some of his right ear gone and he had to get stitches around his neck so they named him frankinstine and my mom thought that was a little mean so we named him stiner!!!. about a year ago while everyone was sleeping some one opened out fence gate and let my dog out the next morning i went outside to feed and play with him and he wasn't there i started getting very upset and worried we drove around town calling his name and had some dog treats and he we couldn;t find him. my brother went to the animal shelter and there he was stiner was there!!! they said a man found him right next to a high way! i am thankful that man picked him up and used a rope as a leash i never got to meet the man but i am thankful for him and would like to say thank you to him. his feet was wet and dirty so were guessing he went in the forest.
Baylee's advice on what type of family should adopt a American Eskimo:
I got my american eskimo when i was about to turn 4 we got him for our new house 3 months before i turned 4. and he was born october 30 2000

About Princess, The American Eskimo

Princess, a Purebred American Eskimo was rescued by Peggy from United States.
Here's how Peggy describes Princess :
princess is about five years old now. i rescued her about two years ago, from a shelter who found her on the street. she was undernourished and infested with two types of worms and had extreme hair loss, by the handfuls. she still has an aggression problem with other dogs when on a leash, but is fine with them off leash in dog parks.i believe she she must have been a yard dog, because she wasn't acclimated to things in the house. in fact, she was terified of the toilet, and tried to attack the tv whenever it was turned on. princess isn't as hyper as other eskies that i have met. she's very calm and lazy around the house, but she would like to play tug with her rope toy for hours if i were to let her. i find ignoring her demands far more benificial then yelling at her. after a couple of minutes of ignoring her, she finally gives up, but with wimpering as she walks away. it's actually very funny to see her do this. it's like watching a spoiled child. she loves to be brushed, proberbly becase it means more attention, and i always reward her with a game of tug afterwards. she is a very loving and devoted dog. she would defend me with her life, if she had to. excellent watch dog. she can be very comical with her antics, all to get your attention.
Does Princess 's behavior show the inherent American Eskimo characteristics?
Yes, some do. she is very cautious of strangers. she won't relax unless i tell her it's okay, and tell her to say hello to so and so. i wouldn't trust her as an off lease dog as she wants to wander and investigate everything. she has a strong hunting instinct around other small animals, very aggressive. she does have that eskie stubborn streak when it comes to training, unless i make it into a game. sometimes she invents her own games as i am trying to train her different commands. she does eventually give in and now has a very large vocabulary of commands.
Special Achievement of Princess :
basic command training is a must for an eskie, or their stuborness, and sometimes over protection of the family pack will want to rule the house. also having a yard to release that extra energy would also be benificial. princess does fine in my apartment, however, daily walks are a must, since we don't have a yard. i strongly feel these walks are what keeps her calm through the day, and has also helped to acclimate her to different sounds and sights, which in turn has helped to control her aggression.
Peggy's advice on what type of family should adopt a American Eskimo:
If you wish to adopt/rescue an older eskie, i highly recommend that the dog be evaluated around other animals and children before hand. if you obtain a puppy, it is very important to acclimate the puppy to children and other dogs and small animals and people while young. with proper training while young, an eskie makes a great family pet as well as a great companion for a single person. if you are an active outdoor type of person/family, then an eskie is the dog for you. take them everywhere with you, they are a lot of fun!

About Buddy, The American Eskimo

Buddy, a Purebred American Eskimo was rescued by Michelle Jones from United States.
Here's how Michelle Jones describes Buddy :
Willing to please, easy going, trained to do lots of tricks.  quick to learn. loves going on walks, loves chasing his football.  learning not to be such a barker.
Does Buddy 's behavior show the inherent American Eskimo characteristics?
Very much so.  very protective, if i don't walk him daily very active, ready to please and obeys himself good.  i have read about his breed and he fits the breed to the tee.
Special Achievement of Buddy :
I have only had buddy for a week and you would think i have had him all his life, he fits right in our home, very gentle with my elderly parents.  waits daily for my granddaughter to get off bus because he knows she will play with him non stop.  i did not want a puppy, i wanted a dog out of a rescue or shelter, buddy previous owner kept him in his kennel 24/7, did not play with him and when they moved to a new home decided he was too much of a bother to keep, the shelter said he had a couple of homes but they always brought him back, he was to hyper, somewhere along his other owners he has had training, buddy was just waiting for me to come along because just after a week he feels like he has been here all his life. when i get his leash out he gets so excited because he knows we are going for a walk, he loves to ride in the car.
Michelle Jones's advice on what type of family should adopt a American Eskimo:
With children, have a fenced yard, needs a family that will walk him daily, get him trained and love him has he is.

About Tootsie, The American Eskimo

Tootsie, a Purebred American Eskimo was adopted by Rebecca Cox from United States.
Here's how Rebecca Cox describes Tootsie :
Does Tootsie 's behavior show the inherent American Eskimo characteristics?
American eskimo dogs where the first dog breed to walk the tight rope in the circus. tootsie carries the talent of her breeds characteristics as well, she learned to stand, sit, lay, and give paw within the first two months after i bought her and at my command. some american eskimos tend to be very territorial but, not tootsie, she loves people and attention just like her breed did back in the day when they used them for the barnum and bailey circus.
Special Achievement of Tootsie :
Tootsie is very smart and fun loving. she does tricks when asked and is very playful but she knows when enough is enough! any dog can be trianed to do want you want them 2 as long as you stick with the same training techniques. i have been taking advice from nancy richards (she can be reached at: tarinpetdog.com) through emails she has sent me that have helped me alot.
Rebecca Cox's advice on what type of family should adopt a American Eskimo:
An american eskimo would be perfect for any size family. they need to be brought around alot of people when they are babies so learn to grow comfortabe around people instead of territorial.
