5 Yummy Homemade Dog Treat Recipes

Now and then cooking your dog some homemade dog treats is a delight for all dog owners. While you probably love to spoil your pooch rotten with different Gourmet Treats you can find, you know that the most important thing for any doggie diet is health.

Your dog needs quality ingredients, the right nutritional proportions, and something that will keep him full and satisfied without packing on the pounds.

You can always buy a bag of Treats for your dog every week. Most of them are healthy and packed with balanced nutritional ingredients. But sometimes it does feel good to cook some yummy homemade treats for your dog.

When your dog is done with dinner, give him a thank you for being such a great buddy by tossing him one of the Treat you’ve made for him and see how happy he becomes.

With time the popularity of gourmet, "all natural" Treats is growing. You can make dog Treats yourself at home. However, store-bought Treats contain balanced proportions of calories, vitamins, minerals and other ingredients that enhance your dog’s diet.

Also, at pet food bakeries, you will find freshly baked doggie donuts, cakes, brownies, and cookies in all shapes, flavors and sizes. However, again make sure they contain all natural ingredients, no preservatives and additives. And most importantly, they are low-fat or low in calories.

In case your dog has weight problems, or is overweight, steer him away from homemade gourmet treats that are high in fat content and calories. Stick to fat-free treats or those that have low calorie content.

In general, foods with:

A balance of Omega 3 & Omega 6 fatty acids helps to improve coat and skin health

Moderate protein content are best for non-working dogs

Meat as the source of protein are best

Also, foods based on corn or containing soybeans may not be suitable for some dogs.
