Dear Dog Lover,

This Thanksgiving, why not go an extra mile for your pooch and show him sweetest way how much you care and love him?

Instead of sharing your turkey dinner with him (that is definitely not healthy for him, mind you) why not cook him some special nutritious lip smacking recipes, right at home? You can do all that and much much more, with Canine Cuisine in your hands.

Every year, on the Thanksgiving Day, I thank the Lord for giving me such a precious gift – my precious furry canine friends. I’m sure, as a fellow dog owner, you too feel the same emotion.

However, during this holiday season, many of us terrible commit the mistake of ‘pampering’ our dog with the food we prepare for ourselves.

The turkey being meaty is not exactly what harms your dog. It is the things that come along with the turkey itself that are simply dangerous for him. I have seen my friends and neighbors commit this terrible mistake time and time again, i.e., sharing their Thanksgiving dinner with their pet dog.

However, this habit is definitely harmful for your dog. Such dinners are not only dangerous for your dog, but also even a small portion can make your dog sick or prove to be fatal.

I am not asking you to exclude your dog from such festive gatherings. In fact they are more than welcome. These precious being are the ones who make our world so bright and loving.

But you should take some serious precautions during such times that will be safe for your beloved pet.

Thanksgiving food can be dangerous for your dog. Thanksgiving means having lots of rich and fatty food around like turkey, mashed potatoes with butter, cakes, gravy, etc. Although, these are mouthwatering for us, but for your dog it might be next to poison.

Dogs should never be given high fat foods even on special occasions such as Thanksgiving, Christmas or Halloween.

Given below are 10 useful tips on pet-food-safety, important during the Thanksgiving Dinners:

1. DO NOT, I repeat do not for once even give any part of the Thanksgiving food to your dog. By eating such foods your furry companion can develop pancreatitis, an inflammatory disease of the pancreas, which can lead to serious illness and even death.

2. Turkey is meaty. So you can cook a separate unseasoned portion for your dog and give him that. But make sure there are no bones included. Turkey bones are prone to splintering and a piece can easily lodge in the esophagus or intestines causing a life threatening intestinal condition.

3. When you cook the turkey for your dog, take off the turket skin and then feed the meat part to your dog. The skin contains the fat that might cause gastric distress and Pancreatitis, a serious inflammatory condition of the pancreas that causes abdominal pains, vomiting, diarrhea and dehydration.

4. Dogs love to eat desserts. Don’t give your dog any part of it.

5. DO NOT allow your guests or the children to give your pet any snacks to eat even if your might want them to. Food like chips, wafers, peanuts are high in sodium and other fatty foods like poultry skin, beef or port fat can cause an inflammation of pancreas. Pancreatitis is potentially life-threatening condition.

6. Another danger to dogs is chocolate. Chocolate can be fatal to your dog as it contains theobromine and caffeine that can be harmful to your dog. Bowls of candy, or pieces dropped by guests or children, may go unnoticed by you for hours, but pose a real risk to your pets. Keep chocolate away from you dog!

7. The items used to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner are highly tempting for your dog. Do away with turkey bones, aluminum foil, skewers, string, pop-up timers, and roasting bags. If by any chance your pet lick the food off foils or wraps or even swallows them by mistake it can cause an intestinal obstruction.

8. Don’t forget to secure your garbage where you throw these items. It only takes a minute for your pooch to get into the garbage and wolf down whatever smells good-including the string used to tie the turkey.

9. Grapes and raisins are toxins for your dog that may cause kidney failure. Even Turkey bones are also dangerous for them. A small bone portion can get stuck in the esophagus or cause an irritation of his or her stomach or intestines.

10. Keep an eye on your beloved pet during all this. The yummy smell of the Thanksgiving dinner might make your dog steal the food from the table with you not even noticing it.

By being aware of these food-safety-measures, you can make this Thanksgiving and the holidays to come, happy and healthy for your beloved pet dog.

The best way to include your dog in a Thanksgiving dinner is to prepare him sometime special all by yourself. Something healthy, nutritious, easy-to-make and of course MOUTH-WATERINGLY DELICIOUS.

You can prepare for him delectable easy-to-make recipes like:
