Obedience Training for Puppies

Training a dog to obey your commands can be an ongoing and lengthy process depending on the dog, the methods used, and the skill and understanding of both the pet and its owner.

It is best to start the basic obedience routine after you and your dog have had a chance to bond. Obedience alone doesn't solve all behavior problems, but it is the foundation for solving just about any problem.

Working with your dog to obeying your commands opens up a line of communication between you and your dog. Consistently communicate with your dog what you want it to do and reward it when he listens to you.

On a basic level, obedience deals with teaching the dog to reliably respond to basic commands such as 'SIT' (don't jump on people), 'DOWN' (put that thing down), 'COME' (follow me or come here), and 'STAY' (don't run off like that).

A dog that has received proper training should be able to respond and comply with every command given by his owner. To learn more about Dog Obedience Training, you can Get Access to our Free Online Seminars and Subscribe to The FREE Training Course

DIY Training For Puppies & Older Dogs

Dog Training Schools have trainers, who are professionals and experts, for handling different dog breeds, irrespective of their age and gender.

Before you actually go ahead and enroll your dog, make sure that the training school is nationally recognized. Visit the school for a day or two and watch how the trainers train other dogs. Also the trainer should be a certified dog trainer, having at least 5 to 6 years of experience.

A Kindergarten Puppy Training Course can range between $100 to $300 (approx.) for a 4-week session. A Basic Obedience Course can vary from $200 to $500. Some schools even offer special value packages that range from $220 to $650 and include a mixture of obedience training, kindergarten puppy training, socialization, etc.

They might ask for your dog's up-to-date vaccination certificates, a leash and collar and any particular treat you give your dog.

Dogs have their own set of behavioral problems. Lack of discipline may badly affect your dog's behavior and turn your beloved pet into a disobedient, aggressive or unruly dog. As a dog owner you should be aware of these problems and train your dog accordingly.

We have an online library of facts and information that can make a big difference in how your puppy grows up. Share the experience of rearing your canine yourself and become more attached than if a professional took your best buddy away for two to four weeks.

Why Should You Train Your Dog

With time, dogs have become an important part of human households, where they are seldom treated as working mates. Unlike people of the 18th century, dog owners of today consider their pets as one of their family members and go out of their way to provide the latter with the best of training, diet, grooming and care.

William Koehler was perhaps the first dog trainer who had encouraged dog owners to have a better bonding with their dogs. In fact, before that, dogs were considered as working animals, and were mostly kept in the backyard. His methods helped dog owners transform these animals into household pets. It is he who introduced the leashes and collars and explained their importance.

Soon, dog owners started realizing the pleasure of taking a simple walk with their dogs. They enjoyed the companionship and vitality of playing with these animals. And that slowly developed into a beautiful relationship of trust, affection and commitment.

A number of methodologies have been developed based on the idea of dominance (alpha dog where the human is the leader), and on the very idea that your dog perceives you as another dog.

Today there is no place for harsh punishments and losing temper. Fortunately, for the last few decades, canine psychology and behavior is being given more importance and based on such aspects, dog training is now about loads of patience and positive reinforcements. Article 1 (Word Count: 503)

Is Your Dog Well-Groomed Enough?

The reason one should groom his/her dog is simple…your dog’s physical state influences the way he feels and the way you look at your dog. Extreme cases, where lack of proper care, cleaning and grooming can directly affect the behavior of a dog, are not rare.

Proper grooming, not only infuses a healthy glow to your dog’s appearance, but also helps develop his self-esteem; while it makes you a very proud parent, when you show off your dog to others.

The first step to Grooming is: Brushing!

Brushing has been universally acknowledged as the single most important step in grooming.

To name a few, the benefits of brushing are many:

  • Better blood circulation
  • Shinier and healthier coat
  • Better bonding

Read more about brushing and combing and 31 different grooming tools and their application at:
http://xxxxx.dogroom.hop.clickbank.net

Even if you know how crucial brushing is for your Dog's health and well-being, we all know that there is a right way and a wrong way of doing anything. And without doubt, you would like to do everything the RIGHT way when it comes to your Dog.

Yes, there's a method to follow while brushing your Dog.

Here are FIVE steps to successfully brushing your Dog that will prove to be extremely useful:

  • Brush against the growth of the hair first with a slicker brush and then with a medium or wide toothed comb.

  • The slicker brush removes all the loose hair and the comb takes care of the tangles.

  • Brush your Dogalong the hair growth and make sure you reach the skin as you brush his way.

  • Then use a flea comb over the coat to get the fleas and removing any remaining tangles. Part the coat and start from the root and then comb through.

  • If your Dog's paw pads are hairy then clip them using electric clippers. Do not clip the hair in between the pads. Clip only the excess hair.

Brush your Dog's hairs to prevent it from matting. Matting can be a very painful experience.

Regular brushing untangles the matted hairs on your Dog's coat. Since this is a risky job to do, the best way out is to prevent them from forming in the first place. And doing this is simple: just brush and comb your dog regularly. If and when you see any mats or tangles; use a detangle solution and a medium toothed comb.

Know more on how to de-matt matted hairs at:
http://xxxxx.dogroom.hop.clickbank.net

Don't wait until your dog is dirty or matted to introduce him to grooming. That would make him associate the experience with unpleasantness. Moreover, many dogs learn to see their routine brushing as an alternate petting, another source of affection and attention.

It also depends on the breed of dog you own. Which brush to use, whether to brush with the grain or against it, how often to brush.

Sharpen Your Dog Grooming Skills

I have a really interesting topic to discuss today.

Without doubt, shedding is one of the most annoying features of dog ownership; what with having dog hair liberally scattered on the floor, furniture, clothes, actually all over.

And frankly there’s not much you can do about it except, accept it as a flip side of dog ownership.

Dog shedding occurs in all dogs and is a natural process of getting rid of (eliminating) dead hair. Basically, shedding takes place for two reasons:

  • To allow a new coat to come in
  • T o help the dog to adapt to the seasonal changes in the temperature

How Does Shedding Occur?

Shedding typically occurs every spring and fall season, relating primarily to changes in the intensity and duration of sunlight cycles. Some dogs — particularly hard-coated terriers and Poodles — hang on to their dead hair, thus requiring special grooming to remove it.

Other dogs give it up quite readily, all over the house. Shedding can take anywhere from three weeks to two months. A warm bath helps accelerate the process and daily (or twice-daily) brushing can help control clouds of hair that scurry into corners and under furniture.

However, there are things you can do to make this nuisance more manageable and less bothersome if you follow a few simple tips. These tips will not only save you from the embarrassment having your guests see your Dog’s shedding around the house but will also help you to keep your house neater and cleaner.

Read more on how to control your Dog’s shedding at:

http://xxxxx.dogroom.hop.clickbank.net

How To Reduce Shedding?

Brushing your Dog is the single most important key to reduce dog shedding. Regular brushing with a slicker brush is the best way to keep the loose hair from falling on the floor or your furniture. Once a week try to sit down and do a thorough brushing session.

As a Dog owner, you should know that different coat types have different grooming requirements. Read about them here:

http://xxxxx.dogroom.hop.clickbank.net

Shedding Misconceptions

A lot of people have plenty of misconceptions about shedding and grooming. For instance dogs would be cooler in summer if their coats are shaved off; frequent bathing is bad for dog’s skin; dogs grow more coat in winter and so on.

Read about these myths and misconceptions here:

http://xxxxx.dogroom.hop.clickbank.net

What is ‘normal’ shedding? What is the difference between normal and excessive shedding? What is the difference between shedding and coat loss? Which are the non-shedding breeds and do they never shed? If you want answers to these questions and many more like these, then you owe it to yourself to check out this one-of-a-kind guide at:
